How to Point Domain to SiteGround

To point your website to SiteGround, you’ll need to use the nameservers provided by SiteGround (ns1.siteground.net and ns2.siteground.net). Log into your domain registrar’s control panel and update the nameservers for your domain in the respective domain management form. Once you point your domain’s nameservers to SiteGround, your domain’s DNS records and email will be managed through your SiteGround account. If you have custom DNS records, set them up using the DNS Zone Editor in Site Tools before switching your nameservers. Alternatively, you can just update your domain’s A record to point to your hosting account’s IP address, which will only point to your website, leaving the other DNS records and email untouched.

Important Tip: Make sure you’ve migrated your website’s data before pointing your domain to SiteGround. To point your website to SiteGround, you’ll need to use SiteGround’s nameservers: ns1.siteground.net and ns2.siteground.net

Log into your domain registrar’s control panel (could be your previous host or another provider) and find the domain management form to update your domain’s nameservers. Here are examples of how to do this at Bluehost, GoDaddy, HostGator, Dreamhost, Namecheap, Google Domains. You can find this information in the SiteGround main interface > Websites. Locate the website you want to check from your list of sites and click the “All Site Options” button next to it.

Under the “Site Tools” menu, find “Server Details”

A pop-up will appear displaying the website’s IP address and its nameservers (NS1 and NS2).!

Verify the NameServer configuration is correct. Go to “All Site Options” > the menu next to “Site Tools” and select “Server Details”. Then click the “Show IP Addresses” button. If everything checks out, you’re all set.

When you point your domain’s nameservers to SiteGround, your domain’s DNS records (A records, MX records, CNAME records, etc.) and email will be managed through your SiteGround account. If you have any custom DNS records you need to keep, you can set them up using the DNS Zone Editor in Site Tools before switching your nameservers. Alternatively, you can just update your domain’s A record to point to your hosting account’s IP address. This will only point to your website, leaving the other DNS records and email untouched.
